Senan is an entrepreneur and scientist dedicated to using technology to improve global health. He has a PhD from Harvard in Computational Neuroscience, in which he applied machine learning approaches for seizure prediction in epilepsy. He has previously worked to build products for human health, including at nference, CrowdMed and Daktari Diagnostics. Senan enjoys playing intramural water polo, eating Brazilian food, and listening to deep house mixes; he aspires to eventually do all three at the same time.
Chief Operating Officer - Boston, MA
Hassaan Ebrahim is an educator and social justice activist focused on improving outcomes for children around the world. Hassaan has been involved with a number of non-profit organizations including Teach For America, and is an education policy fellow with the Urban Leaders Fellowship. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Neuroscience. When he is not teaching or building outcome-driven products, Hassaan enjoys travel, photography, and listening to tropical house music.

Erik is a Software Engineer at Jobcase, a job search network and social media platform. In his role at Jobcase, he has built software features for Fortune 500 clients and has architected systems that have scaled to millions of users. Erik has a breadth of technical and business experience spanning several venture-backed early stage technology companies with successful exits.
Chief Medical Officer - Boston, MA
Dr. Michael Chilazi is currently a resident physician in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. His family immigrated from Aleppo, Syria which he traveled to annually to visit relatives. He studied Neuroscience and Arabic at Harvard College before earning his medical degree at Harvard Medical School. Michael is passionate about supporting medical education and healthcare delivery domestically and internationally, having worked with both Kaiser Permanente and the Syrian American Medical Society. In his free time, Michael enjoys traveling, cooking, and (occasionally) running.
Chief Financial Officer - Denver, CO
Melissa Shelton is a Denver native, currently working as a Compliance and Privacy Specialist at Children's Hospital Colorado. She is certified in both Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC). With a passion to gain new experiences that have a focus on justice and health equity, she serves on the board of a volunteer organization that focuses on meeting the unmet medical needs of vulnerable populations in her community. She firmly believes that access to healthcare is a basic human right, not a privilege. When she is not working or volunteering, you can find her teaching yoga or leading a local run club.
Chief Design Officer - Toronto, ON
Adesh is a fourth year undergraduate student studying biomedical engineering at the University of Guelph. He was previously a Research Associate at Massachusetts General Hospital studying seizure prediction and now works as a Software Engineer at Publicis Sapient in Toronto. He has a strong interest in data science and machine learning applications in the healthcare space and human-centered design. In his free time he enjoys working out, playing pool, photography, and cooking.
Director of Partnerships - Boston, MA
As a former full-time dentist, Leila Roumani transitioned her career towards focusing on unconventional ways to improve health. For the past four years, Leila has also built a $5.3M dollar joint program between the Harvard Business School and Harvard Chan School of Public Health on how companies can improve consumer, community, environmental, and employee health through their business practices. Leila received her B.A. in Psychology from U.C.L.A, her D.M.D from Tufts School of Dental Medicine, and her M.P.H. from the Harvard Chan School of Public Health. She recently joined the Hikma team to help us address an increasingly unmet global health need – improving access to sustainable health care services for underserved and forcibly displaced populations.
Director of Development - Boston, MA
A Consultant in the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) and Real-World Evidence (RWE) & Advanced Analytics division at Trinity Partners, focusing on quantitative evidence generation and long-term strategic planning for biotech, pharma, and medical devices. Zahra holds a M.S. in Health Economics from the Harvard School of Public Health and a B.S./B.A. in Biological Sciences and Middle Eastern Studies from Columbia University. She is passionate about the intersection of health and data access disparities and enjoys singing, Arabic calligraphy, and pretending to write poetry.
Director of Research and Innovation - Boston, MA
A fourth year MD MBA candidate at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School. He currently conducts orthopaedic surgery research focusing on radiographic predictors of trauma at Brigham and Woman's Hospital as well as Massachusetts General Hospital. He is also working on a project to better identify victims of intimate partner violence from fracture patterns. He serves on the executive board of Harvard Medical School’s Surgical Society as well as Harvard Medical School’s Makerspace. He has represented the state of Massachusetts as a delegate of Harvard Medical School at the American Medical Association. Before coming to Harvard, Jordan was a Healthcare Consultant at IMS Health. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University with a degree in Biochemistry. Jordan enjoys playing guitar, biking and unfortunately, rooting for the Jets and Mets.
Director of Data Management - Boston, MA
Emma Rogge is a Computer Science student at Harvard College with a focus on neuroscience applications. She now works to develop machine learning applications for healthcare to improve patient outcomes at Hikma Health. She previously worked at Twilio and Amazon, where she developed a throttling solution for Amazon Music. Emma enjoys teaching, reading, and meeting artists from all over the world.
Project Manager - San Francisco, CA
Fares is a technologist and digital health enthusiast. He graduated from San Jose State University with a B.S in Management Information System. He is a founding team member at Enara Health where he leads projects to build Enara’s data infrastructure and patient-facing products. He’s passionate about causes related to refugee education, global health, and human equality. Away from professional aspirations, Fares is into traveling, surfing and electronic music.
Product Manager - Boston, MA
Gauri is a Systems Project Manager for Steward Medical Group and previously worked at athenahealth in Product Management. She has a Masters of Public Health from Saint Louis University and a Bachelors degree in Health: Science, Society, and Policy from Brandeis University. Her passion for healthcare has been a driving force in helping vulnerable populations and joining a mission-driven cause like Hikma. In her spare time, Gauri loves to read, dance, sing, and spend time with her family.
Medical Informaticist - Boston, MA
Dr. Firas Bounni is a physician and postdoctoral researcher in neuroscience/neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He is trilingual, and has clinical experience caring for both Arabic and English-speaking patients. Outside of work, he enjoys meditation, CrossFit, cycling, traveling and photography.
Medical Informaticist - Tampa, FL
Eliza is a third year medical student committed to creating socially just communities through medicine and public health. She is the president of Student Physicians for Social Responsibility at Morsani College of Medicine, where she attends medical school, and is on the staff of the BRIDGE clinic, a free, student-driven clinic for uninsured patients in Tampa, FL. Eliza also serves on the board of the Tree of Life Educational Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that offers transnational and cross cultural travel opportunities to promote engagement in social activism and the creation of a just world. Eliza graduated from Harvard University, with a concentration in the history of science. When she isn’t studying, Eliza enjoys rock climbing, Netflix, and hanging out with her cat, Amora.
Medical Informaticist - Rochester, NY
Fares Alahdab, MD, MSc, is an assistant professor of medicine and scientist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He has published about 100 peer-reviewed research papers, is an editor of two medical journals, and serves frequently as a referee for several top medical journals such as BMJ, Lancet, among others. His work focuses on evidence synthesis, methods research, medical education, practicing medicine in man-made crises, and physician wellbeing/burnout. He enjoys outdoors, sports, and learning new things.
Software Engineer - Boston, MA
Austen Novis is a software engineer with a focus on cloud infrastructure automation. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in electrical engineering Austen has worked with several nonprofits developing applications and setting up their backend infrastructure, as well as volunteering in schools to promote and teach computer science. In his free time, Austen enjoys traveling, cycling and reading.
Mobile Developer - Beirut, Lebanon
Iskander is a MEPI Tomorrow's Leaders Scholarship alumni with a Computer Science degree and a minor in Mathematics from the American University of Beirut. Driven by his passion for his field, strong technical skills and will to deliver help to those who need it the most, he aspires to help building a customized healthcare system for refugees and vulnerable patients. When he is not chasing bugs (computer bugs) down, Iskander likes hanging out, playing simulation racing video games, watching the FIA World Rally Championship and anything with a powerful engine and four wheels.
Software Developer - Boston, MA
Matt is a Junior at Harvard College studying applied mathematics in linguistics and computer science. He plans to pursue a career in computational linguistics and artificial intelligence with a focus on giving back to the community through open source projects and humanitarian technology applications. He is passionate about languages and recently started picking up Vietnamese. Matt enjoys the outdoors and can be found climbing, sailing, hiking, and camping with friends on weekends.

Rim is a Software Engineer with a Computer Science degree from the American University of Beirut. She’s passionate about making a real impact on the world and people’s lives with code as her method to make it all happen. She is highly interested in ASP.net MVC web development and mobile development. When she is not glued to a computer screen, she spends time learning Turkish, taking a walk through RAS Beirut, and hanging out with friends.
Machine Learning Engineer - Providence, RI
A CS student at Brown University with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Equipped with strong technical aptitude and drive to create meaningful impact in healthcare technology, he hopes to engineer a personalized bilingual healthcare system to the most vulnerable patients. His work with Hikma Health is inspired by his own childhood experiences as an Iraqi-American refugee. Bilal works with several organizations including Johnson & Johnson, Teach for America, and Beat the Streets. On his free time, Bilal enjoys urban photography, marathon training, and traveling.
Market Analyst - San Francisco, CA
Jalal is an Account Executive at Google on the Google Cloud Platform team. He’s spent the past 7 years in sales and business development roles in the SF Bay Area at technology companies. He manages the active relationship between Google and Hikma Health, and he leads efforts in developing new partnerships between Hikma Health and NGOs both locally and abroad. His passion for Hikma has much to do with the fact that all 4 of his grandparents were Palestinian refugees. He enjoys playing soccer, listening to afrobeats and reggaeton music, and cheering for all of Toronto’s sports teams.
Medical Researcher - Boston, MA
Lena Hamvas studied Global Health as an undergraduate at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. She spent three years teaching English as a Second Language in Thailand, in Jordan, and in Boston to immigrants and refugees. Lena is motivated to improve access to healthcare for all communities. In her free time, she enjoys running in the woods, taking long bike rides through Massachusetts, and cooking chicken in a cast iron skillet.
Medical Researcher - Baltimore, MD
Originally from Syria, Dani received his BS degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2018. In the same year, he embarked on a PhD at the Computational Health Informatics Laboratory at the University of Oxford. His previous research involved the design and manufacturing of upper and lower limb prosthetic devices. At Johns Hopkins, he led a team of engineers and clinicians looking to improve the repositioning of patients during time-sensitive intraoperative complications. Dani's interests lie at the intersection of machine learning and healthcare, with the mission of improving the accessibility of healthcare to people in low-resource settings such as refugees.
UI/UX Designer - Toronto, ON
Jason Au is a passionate designer and business analyst focused on developing impactful applications through UI/UX design. Jason has a technology consulting and marketing background. He recently worked at Deloitte Canada involved in the design and functional development of mobile applications for various clients, and at PepsiCo Canada as an Assistant Marketing Manager. Outside of work, Jason is a photographer and Instagram influencer on his blog Jason’s Adventures.
Social Media - Old Lyme, CT
Luke is a Senior at Amherst College majoring in political science. He plans to pursue a career in law to ensure that everyone, regardless of wealth, gender or ethnicity, has a voice. At Hikma, Luke works with the business team, focusing on social media and fundraising. Luke has previously worked for Senator Chris Murphy (CT) as a policy intern. Luke enjoys hanging out with his dog Rufus, playing soccer, and avidly following the Minnesota Vikings.
Grants Manager - Boston, MA
Bilal Nadeem is a junior at Harvard College studying a combination of molecular biology, global health, and Arabic. He plans to pursue a career in medicine and help build resilient health systems that address the psychosocial needs of refugees and displaced peoples in the Middle East and South Asia. At Hikma, he is helping create new partnerships with NGOs and conducting research to evaluate the specific needs of physicians and healthcare staff operating in humanitarian contexts.
